here are the abilities we offer on the site. if it's not on the list, we don't allow it, so do not ask. read the descriptions so when you give a character this ability, you'll actually know what you're talking about. like all other claims, you'll lose abilities if the character is inactive for three weeks. up to two ability claims for adult and university characters and up to one ability claims for hogwart students.
please note that there will be only a certain number of available slots for each catagory.

werewolves
werewolves work like the canon ones. but there are a few twists. werewolves on this site will be similar to real wolves that we see in everyday life, but bigger and more aggressive, especially as the full moon nears. should a werewolf bite a person while they are in their wolf form, then that person will become a werewolf themselves on the next full moon. should a person be biten by a non-transformed or half-transformed werewolf in which the skin must be broken, then that person will experience wolf-like characteristics. these characteristics include moodiness and a desire for rare meat during the time of the full moon. a werewolf may be born from two werewolf parents or one werewolf parent and one human parent, please note that in some cases, the werewolf gene is not always expressed even if the person has two werewolf parents.
in human form, werewolves are very strong, crave rare meat, and get moodier towards the full moon. their eyes can turn to different shades of blues, yellows, silvers, or greens if their mood is intense, such as while angry or scared. all wolves have a sensitivity to silver and have heightened senses. freshly turned werewolves are more uncontrollable, and it takes them awhile to get a hold of their abilities. wolfsbane is required legally, as it makes the human turn into a normal wolf, still in control of themselves and their thoughts.
veela
we all remember fleur, right? if you do, then you have the basic idea of how this works. we do not allow full veela, only part veela. veela have a charm about them. their scent is seductive, and the more veela blood their have, the more then can put you under a sort of stupor. people of the opposite sex are highly attracted to the scents, and will be lured into doing crazy things to impress the veela. the stupor usually wears off after a few moments. veela can be both genders, but females are more common.
animagi
an Animagus can change into the form of an animal. The magic for this transformation is complicated and very advanced, and very few wizards even attempt it. When a wizard transforms into his or her animal form, some visual clue typically connects that form to the human. On here, characters may choose their animagus form, however one may not be a choose a mythological creature such as a phoenix, dragon, unicorn, etc to be their animagus form.
metamorphmagi
ever wanted to change your entire appearance? well, if you're a metamorphmagi, you get to. this is an inherited ability. metamorphmagi cannot change completely into animals, but can give themselves animal-like features.
occlumens
occlumens is the ability to block your mind from outside attack, which would be legilimens. this ability is learned, not inherited. it is a very difficult ability to master, so your character must have been at least sixteen when they mastered it. this ability is highly recommended if your character is a spy.

seers
some people are born with the ability to see things others can't. this can be either seeing things in the future, or even seeing things in the past. it varies with each person. some people get their visions in dreams, some after touching something, etc. younger seers have less control over their ability as the ability is still developing.
parselmouths
the ability to speak Parseltongue is extremely rare, and is something for which Salazar Slytherin was famous. Parseltongue is the language of snakes; to a human who cannot speak it, it sounds like hissing without taking a breath. A speaker of Parseltongue is referred to as a Parselmouth.
wandless, or speechless magic
some people are born with the ability to use magic without having to use a wand, or even speak at all. This is a rare gift, and not many people will have it.
